(7) Place new cylinder block to crankcase gasket (29)
on crankcase. Place cylinder block (27) on
crankcase (28) in same orientation as it was removed.
(8) Assemble six bolts (25) and lockwashers (26),
torquing two center bolts to eight (8) ft. Ibs.
(11 Nm), then four end bolts. Increase bolt
torque to 27 to 33 ft. Ibs. (37 to 44 Nm), torquing
center two bolts and then four end bolts.
CAUTION
Do not overtighten bolts.
(9) Position connecting rod (32) in piston (33) and slip
piston pin (35) into place.
(10) Install snap rings (34) into piston at ends of piston
pin.
(11) Install compression rings (36) and oil rails (38) and
expander rings (37) on pistons. Seven rings are
used in each piston-two compression rings in each
of top two grooves, and two oil rails and an expander
ring in bottom groove.
CAUTION
Compression rings must be installed
with surface marked "TOP" facing
top of piston.  Some compression
rings may have dots indicating top
of ring.

Staggering gaps by 120 degrees.
(13)
Insert connecting rod bearing inserts (50) into
connecting rod (32) and bearing cap (31). Make
sure locating tangs on inserts engage locating
notches in rod and cap. Align arrows on cap
and rod. Make sure each rod cap is installed on
rod from which it was removed.
