(28) Lift piston (33) and connecting rod (32) through top
of crankcase. Temporarily install rod cap (31) and
bolts (30) back on rod (32).
(29) Repeat steps (26 thru 28) on remaining rod.
(30) Remove snap rings (34) from pistons (33).
(31) Press piston pin (35) out of piston taking care not
to damage piston.
(32) Remove the rings (36, 37, and 38) from the piston
using a piston ring expander.
(33) Remove four bolts (39) securing cap (40) to
crankcase (28).
CAUTION
Do not
attempt to pry cap off.
(34) Tap cap gently with a brass or plastic hammer to
loosen.
CAUTION
Be extremely careful to avoid
scratching
machined
surfaces.
(35) Remove cap from
crankcase. Remove and
discard gasket (41).
(36) Clean gasket surfaces and inspect for damage.
CAUTION
Removal of crankshaft may
cause main bearing damage.
Therefore,  inspection  while
assembled is recommended.
NOTE
If visual inspection shows that
crankcase or crankshaft is
damaged, compressor should
be replaced.
