Coat end plate gaskets (3 and 4) with
grease (Item 1, Appendix E) and
install on engine block (5).

Install front end plate (1), five
screws (6) and, lockwashers (7), two
screws (8), and lockwashers (9).
Tighten screws (6 and 8) finger tight.
NOTE
Right bank camshaft end bearing will be used as
a pilot in small bearing bores when aligning front
end plate on engine block.

Install camshaft end bearing (10)
into front end plate (1).
(6)
Tighten five screws (6) to 30 to
35 Ib-ft (41 to 47 Nm).
(7)
Tighten two screws (8) to 71 to
75 lb-ft (96 to 102 Nm).
(8)
Remove end bearing (10).
c. Follow-on maintenance. Install camshafts
(see para 6-36).
