d. Assembly.
NOTE
Discard old seals and install new seals when assembling unit.
(1)
Apply lubricating oil (Item 10, Appendix E) to new gasket (1)
and install on hub (2).
NOTE
Check that three parts of bearing have same serial
number.
(2)
Install inner race (3) on hub (2).
(3)
Install pump (4) on hub (2).
CAUTION
Bearing must be kept clean during installation. Vaep
bearing wrapped until bearing is installed. Set bearing
on clean, lint-free paper and never on dirty surface.
(4)
Install bearing (5) in inner race (3).
(5)
Install outer race (6) over bearing (5).
(6)
Position bearing retainer (7) shoulder side up on hub (2).
(7)
Install six lockstrips (8) and 12 screws (9).
(8)
Torque 12 screws (9) to 35 to 40 Ib-ft (47 to 54 Nm).
(9)
Bend corners of lockstrips (8) against heads of screws (9).
