Tighten support housing screw (7) to 45 Ib-ft (61 Nm).

Soak four friction plates (13) in oil (Item 10, Appendix E) for 2 minutes.
NOTE
Thick external steel plates must be installed on bottom of stack.

Install external steel plate (14) with gap (15) facing as shown.
(13)
Install seven clutch plates (13 and 14), starting with internal friction plate (13) and alternating with
external steel plate (14).

Install backplate (16).
(15)
Install retaining ring (17) with gap opposite oil pan side (12) of transmission housing (4).

Follow-on Maintenance.

Install fourth clutch assembly (see para 6-59).
