(2) Set cylinder head (2) upside down on two wood blocks.
(3) Drive valve guide (1) out of valve bore (3) using valve guide remover (Appendix B, Section lll, Item
35).
b. Installation.
NOTE
There are 16 valve guides on cylinder heads.
Repeat steps (1) through (3) to install each
valve guide.
(1) Turn cylinder head (1) on right side.
(2) Install threaded end of valve guide (2) into valve guide
installer (Appendix B, Section III, Item 36).
(3) Install valve guide (2) into cylinder head (1) until valve
guide extends above face of cylinder head 0.67 to
0.71-in. (17.02 to 18.03 mm).

Follow-on Maintenance.
(1) Install cam followers and push rods (see para 6-22).
(2) Install exhaust valves (see para 6-20).
(3) Install fuel injectors (see para 6-43).
(4) Install exhaust valve bridges (see para 6-24).
(5) Install rocker arms (see para 6-21).
(6) Install engine brake retarder (see para 6-34).
