Tool Kit, General Mechanics, Automotive
Swing Brake Removed (see para 5-54.)
(Appendix B, Section III, Items 1 and 4)
MATERIALS/PARTS REQUIRED
Dry Cleaning Solvent (Item 3, Appendix E)
Dexron II (Item 12, Appendix E)
O-rings (Figure 179, Appendix F)
Gaskets (Figure 179, Appendix F)
Seal Kit (Figure 179, Appendix F
a. Disassembly.
(1) Alternately loosen four 12 point capscrews (1) until all internal spring force is relieved.
(2) Remove cover (2) and cover gasket (3). Discard gasket.
(3) Place one hand on top of piston (4) and springs (5).
(4) Apply low air pressure (20 to 30 psi (138 to 206 kPa)) to brake release port to force piston (4) with
springs (5) out of case (6).
(5) Remove upper back-up ring (7), upper O-ring (8), lower back-up ring (9), and lower O-ring (10).
Discard O-rings.
