Remove nine pipe plugs (35) from cylinder head (3).
b. Cleaning and Inspection.
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 is potentially dangerous. Avoid
repeated and prolonged breathing of vapors and skin contact
with the liquid. Do not use near open flame, arcing equipment or
other ignition sources.
Always wear eye protection and
protective clothing. The flash point of P-D-680 is 100 to 138 deg.
F (38 to 59 deg. C).
(1) Clean stripped cylinder head with dry cleaning solvent (Item 3, Appendix E).
WARNING
Compressed air used for cleaning purposes will not exceed 30
psi (207 kPa). Use only with effective chip guarding and
personal protective equipment (goggles/shields, gloves, etc.).

Dry cylinder head with
compressed air.
(3)
Align straightedge along lines
1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 on cylinder
head (1). Measure for warp with
feeler gauge at points where lines
6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 intersect
straightedge.
(4)
If warp measurement exceeds
0.004 in. (0.1 mm), cylinder head
(1) must be replaced.

Align straightedge along lines
6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 on cylinder head (1). Measure at points where lines 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 intersect
straightedge.
(6)
If warp measurement exceeds 0.008-in. (0.2 mm), cylinder head (1) must be replaced.
