SHELTER REQUIREMENTS
Most components of the firefighting, fire alarm, and fire detection systems are mounted in interior spaces out of
the weather. Those components that are mounted on weather decks are designed to withstand this environment.
However, interior components can still become wet during compartment cleaning or during service of other
systems such as the potable water systems. If there is a possibility that interior components could become wet
due to cleaning or equipment maintenance operations, cover them with waterproof tarps or other protective
coverings until cleaning or maintenance is complete.
