c.
Assembly.
(1) Apply hydraulic oil (Item 28, Appendix E) to gland (3).
(2) Install new rod seal (7), wiper seal (6), and gland O-ring (8) on gland (3).
(3) Install gland (3) on rod (4).
(4) Screw piston (5) on rod (4).
(5) Apply hydraulic oil (Item 28, Appendix E) to piston (5).
(6) Install two new piston seals (9) on piston (5).
(7) Install piston (5), rod (4) and gland (3) as assembly in tube assembly (2).
(8) Using a spanner wrench, thread gland (3) into tube assembly (2) until they are flush.
(9) Install new nylon plug (10) and set screw (1); tighten set screw so plug deforms against gland threads.
d. Follow-on Maintenance.
(1) Install extension/retraction cylinder (see para 5-64 or 5-65).
