WARNING
Clamp nut is no longer retaining output shaft, so care should be
taken if moving case because output shaft can fail out. Care
should be taken not to damage output shaft (13) or injure your
feet when shaft falls out of case.
(7) To remove output shaft (13), case (14) should be set on a plate or table with the output shaft protruding
downward through hole in table. Push output shaft out bottom of case by applying load to top end
(threaded end) of output shaft until It passes through upper shaft bearing (15).
NOTE
The unit is now disassembled into groups of parts. The area(s)
requiring repair should be identified by thorough inspection of the
parts after they have been washed in solvent (Item 3, Appendix
E). Then, refer to the appropriate group repair paragraph below.
b. Cleaning and Inspection.
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 is potentially dangerous. Avoid
repeated and prolonged breathing of vapors and skin contact
with the liquid. Do not use near open flame, arcing equipment
or other ignition sources. Always wear eye protection and
protective clothing. The flash point of P-D-680 is 1 00 to 138
deg. F (38 to 59 deg. C).
(1) Clean all parts in dry cleaning solvent (Item 3, Appendix E) as detailed in para 4-9.
WARNING
Death of serious injury could occur if compressed air is directed
against the skin. Do not use compressed air for cleaning or
drying unless the pressure is/has been reduced to 30 psi (2.11

kg/cm ) or less. When working with compressed air, always
use chip guards, eye protection and other personal protective
equipment.
(2) Dry all parts with compressed air.
(3) Inspect all parts as detailed in para 4-9.
