4-219. REAR DRUM BRAKE REPLACEMENT.

Engine OFF.
General Mechanics Tool Kit
Transmission in (N) neutral.
Brake Adjusting Tool
Parking brake and micro-brakelock set.
Material/Parts
Grease, Lubricating
Cloth, Emery, Fine
Brake Drum (049-90008)
REMOVAL
a. Raise the vehicle and support it with suitable
safety stands.
b. Mark the relationship of the wheel to the hub.
c. Remove the wheel
and
tire
assembly
d. Mark the relationship of the drum to the axle.
e. Remove the brake drum.
NOTE
It may be necessary to back off the
shoe adjustment before removing
the drum.
f. Remove the two return springs (1 and 2).
g. Remove the shoe guide (3).
h. Remove the hold down springs (4) and hold
down pins (5).
