c.
Assembly.
(1) Install new rod seal (9), wiper seal (8), and gland O-ring (10) on gland (2).
(2) Apply hydraulic oil (item 28, Appendix E) to gland (2).
(3) Install gland (2) on rod (4).
(4) Install rod O-ring (12), piston (6), and nut (7) on rod (4).
(5) Torque nut (4) to 210 ft lbs (283 Nm).
(6) Apply hydraulic oil (Item 28, Appendix E) to piston (6) and gland (2).
(7) Install two piston seals (11) on piston (6).
(8) Install piston (6), rod (4), rod lug (5), and gland (2), with O-rings and seals, as assembly in tube
assembly (3).
(9) Using a spanner wrench to thread gland (2) snugly into cylinder (3), until gland is flush.
(10) Install new nylon plug (13) and set screw (1); tighten set screw so plug deforms against gland
threads.
d. Follow-on Maintenance.
(1) Install hoist cylinder (see para 5-51).
(2) Connect batteries (see para 4-114).
