(14) Insert clutch piston and ball assembly (18) with two O-rings (20 and 21), vee ring (22) and wiggler
wire (19) into clutch back-up cylinder (23), and slide assembled parts onto output shaft (7).
(15) Install new retaining ring (24) on output shaft (7).
CAUTION
Support inner race of ball bearing (25).
(16) Press drive end of shaft (7) into ball bearing (25) until retaining ring (24) contacts bearing (25).
(17) Insert two roller bearings (11) into output gear (8).
(18) Slide spacer (10) and output gear (8) with two roller bearings onto output shaft (7), aligning inner
teeth of output gear (8) with outer teeth of clutch plates (23).
CAUTION
Support inner race of ball bearing (13).
(19) Slide thrust washer (12) onto non-drive end output of shaft (7) and press drive end of shaft into ball
bearing (13) until it seats.
(20) Insert output shaft (7), with entire drive assembly (8 thru 25), into housing (26), aligning external
teeth of output gear (8) with teeth of input gear (35), and ball bearing (13) entering closed end
bearing cover (28).
(21) Insert new oil seal (4), back-up plate (3), and new retaining ring (6) into open end bearing cover (2).
(22) Place gasket (5) on bearing cover (2), slide cover onto ball bearing (25), and attach cover to
housing (26) with four hex head cap screws (1). Torque to 13 ft Ibs (18 Nm).
d. Follow-on Maintenance.
(1) Install power take-off (see para 5-49).
(2) Connect batteries (see para 4-114).
