REMOVAL
a. Raise the vehicle and support the axle with a
suitable lifting device.
b. Remove the brake drum (1) or hub and drum
assembly.
c. Drain lubricant from the axle housing (2).
d. Disconnect the vent hose from the axle vent
fitting.
e. Remove nuts (3) from the U-bolts (4).
f. Remove U-bolts, (4), spring plates (5), and
spacers (6) from the axle assembly. Lower the
jack and the axle assembly.
