4-149. HOOD SPRING ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT.
This task covers:
a. Removal

General Mechanics Tool Kit
General Safety Instructions
Engine OFF
Materials/Parts
Transmission in (N) neutral.
Parking brake and micro-brakelock set.
Hood Latch (14021243)
REMOVAL
a.
Mark the position of the secondary hood
latch (1) assembly on the hood.
b.
Remove the secondary hood latch to hood
bolts (2).
c.
Remove the secondary hood latch (1) from
the vehicle.
d.
Remove the spring (3) from the hood (4) by
twisting and pulling the spring (3) from the
reinforcement.
b.
Install the secondary hood latch (1) by
INSTALLATION
carefully aligning the latch with the marks
and installing the hood bolts (2). Torque
a.
Install the spring (3) to the hood (4) by
bolts to 20 ft-lbs (27 N-m).
pushing and twisting the spring (3) into the
reinforcement.
