Read and follow all WARNINGS in the WARNING SUMMARY in the front of this
manual. Pay careful attention to those concerning batteries.
Unpacking
When a new or reconditioned M171/M171A1 Telescope and Quadrant Mount is received, be aware of any
shipping damage to packaging materiel. Report any damage on SF 364, Report of Discrepancy (ROD), as
prescribed in AR 735-11-2. Retain packaging materiel for future use.
Checking Unpacked Equipment
1.
Inspect the equipment for damage incurred during shipment. If the equipment has been damaged,
report the damage on SF 361, Transportation Discrepancy Report.
2.
Check the equipment against the packing slip to see if the shipment is complete. Report all
discrepancies in accordance with applicable service instructions (e.g., for Army instructions, see DA
PAM 738-750).
