4-56. TREAD PLATES REPLACEMENT (Continued).
INSTALLATION
a. Position tread plate(s) (5) to top of vehicle
compartment.
b. Secure tread plate (5) to hose bed body with
nine screws (1), flat washers (2), lockwashers
(3), and nuts (4).
c. Install ten perimeter screws (1), flatwashers (2),
lockwashers (4) and nuts (3) attaching tread
plate(s) (5) to top of vehicle compartments.

Engine OFF
Ladder Mounting Bracket
Transmission in (N) neutral.
Removed
Parking brake and micro-brakelock set.
Hard Suction Hose Bracket
Batteries disconnected.
Removed
Rear Warning Lights Removed
Materials/Parts
Back-Up, Turn, and Stop
Lights Removed
Street Side Compartment
Compartment Light Removed
Tread Plates Removed
Curb Side Compartment
c. Remove compartment panel doors (5) and
REMOVAL
hinge/spring assemblies (6) by removing screws
(7), nuts (2) and washers (3) from door panels.
a. Disconnect compartment wiring.
d. Remove compartment panels.
b. Remove screws (1), nuts (2) and washers (3)
attaching panels to each other and the inner
body panels (4).
