Tighten or replace cover or gasket. (paragraph 4-192).
Step 3. Inspect rear extension seal for damage.

43. NOISY SHIFTING.

Step 2. Inspect clutch linkage for proper adjustment or damage.

Adjust or replace linkage.
Step 2. Inspect for dirt between clutch housing and transmission.
Clean the mating surfaces.
