Installation TOOLS MATERIALS/PARTS Tool Kit, General Mechanic, Automotive, 14, Appendix E Gasket Eliminator NSN 5810-00-177-7033 16, Appendix E Grease 20, Appendix E Penetrating Oil 102603 Drive Shaft EQUIPMENT CONDITION Main Engine Shutdown (see para. 2-10) APU Shutdown (see para. 2-12) Batteries Disconnected (see para. 4-24) Pump Body Heat Shield Removed (see para. 4-11.2) WARNING Serious injury could occur if heavy equipment is moved/lifted without sufficient personnel to do  the  job.    Use  proper  physical  lifting  procedures  or  use  a  suitable  lifting  device  or  dolly. Wear safety shoes, gloves and other suitable protective clothing. CAUTION Constant  velocity  joint  damage  could  result  if  drive  shaft  is  hung  from  one  end.    Always support one end of the drive shaft using mechanics wire, until the other end is also removed. NOTE If the drive shaft fasteners are excessively corroded, apply penetrating oil (item 20, Appendix E) to ease disassembly. REMOVAL (1)    Remove  the  four  capscrews  (1)  that  retain the     constant     velocity     joint     (2)     to     the companion  flange  (3)  of  the  reducer  gear (4). (2)  Using a hammer, lightly tap spacer plate (5) until     the     constant     velocity.          Joint     (2) separates from the companion flange (3). (3)    Using  mechanics  wire,  support  the  reducer gear end of the drive shaft. (4)    Remove  the  four  capscrews  (6)  that  retain the    constant    velocity    joint    (7)    to    the companion flange (8) of the PTO (9). 4-208
