Remove and discard lock wire (1) (M171 only).

Remove hexagon capscrew (2) and lockwasher (3). Discard lockwasher (M171 only).
3.
Remove setscrew (4) (M171A1 only).
4.
If damaged, remove straight pin (5) (M171A1 only).
5.
Drive out plain tapered pin(s) (6) (M171 and M171A1).
6.
Remove optical instrument support (7) from bearing housing assembly (8).
