13. Reposition the dial indicator (figure 3, item 1) as shown in figure 3 to check the parallel alignment.
NOTE
The dial indicator should have a 0.200 in (5.08 mm) to 0.300 in (7.62 mm) preload when
installed against the PTO output flange.
14. Place a 0.200 in (5.08 mm) to 0.300 in (7.62 mm) preload on the dial indicator.

NOTE
Observe the dial indicator's needle movement to either side of zero as the pump shaft is
rotated. Add the readings on both sides of zero to determine the amount of parallel
misalignment. For example, if the dial indicator needle moves 0.002 in (0.05 mm) to
one side of zero and 0.004 in (0.10 mm) to the other side of zero, add the two readings
(0.002 in (0.05 mm) + 0.004 in (0.10 mm) = 0.006 in (0.15 mm)) to determine that the
parallel misalignment is 0.006 in (0.15 mm).
15. Slowly rotate the pump shaft (figure 3, item 2) while noting the dial indicator (figure 3, item 1) reading.
