Follow-on Maintenance TOOLS REQUIRED EQUIPMENT CONDITION Tool Kit, General Mechanics, Automotive Main Engine Shutdown (see para 2-12 .) (Appendix B, Section III, Item 1) APU Shutdown (see para 2-16 .) Batteries Disconnected (see para 4-114 .) a. Adjustment. CAUTION Proper spring tension on electrical cables must be checked and inspected after the extension/retraction cables are checked.  Failure to maintain proper tension can result in damage to cables. (1) Measure the distance (A) between the strut and spring stop washer. (2) The measurement should be 4-1/8 inches (105 mm). (3) Adjust nut to increase or decrease spring tension. b. Follow-on Maintenance. (1) Connect batteries (see para 4-114). 4-516
