4-89. ACCELERATOR PEDAL REPLACEMENT. (Continued)
REMOVAL
a. Remove retainer (1) from accelerator pedal
shaft.
b. Disconnect spring (2) from accelerator pedal.
c. Remove accelerator pedal (3) by sliding off
shaft (4).
d. Disconnect the accelerator control cable (4)
from the control rod (5).
e. Remove the stop (6) from the cable (4).
f. Disconnect the washer (7) and the retainer (8)
from the stud on the pivot arm.
g. Remove the cable from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
a. Route and position the cable (3) in the vehicle to
the assemblies.
b. Install the washer (7) and the retainer (8) to the
stud on the pivot arm in the engine
compartment.
c. Install the air cleaner (paragraph 4-83).
d. Remove the stop (6) from the cable (4).
e. Connect the control cable to the control rod (5).
f. Start the engine and check the operation of the
accelerator before placing the vehicle in
service.
h. Connect spring (2) to pedal.
g. Slide accelerator pedal (3) on shaft (4).
i. Install retainer (1).
