(b) With the backlash of the ring gear (18) set to specifications indicated above, check tooth contact.
(c) Apply a marking compound such as Prussian blue to approximately twelve teeth of the ring gear
(18). Rotate the ring gear so that coated teeth are next to drive pinion.
(d) Rotate the ring gear forward and backward to bring the teeth with marking compound past the
pinion to get the contact patterns. Repeat if needed to get a more clear pattern.
