STEERING ERRATIC
Step 1. Check tire pressure.
Inflate tires to correct pressure (see para 3-7).
Step 2. Check tread wear.
Change tire if tread is bulging or warped due to broken plies (see para 4-143).
Step 3. Check for air in oil circuit.
Bleed power steering oil system.
Step 4. Check suction hose and fittings for blockage.
Replace hoses or fittings (see para 4-9). +
Step 5. Check for worn universal joint in steering shafts.
Replace universal joint (see para 4-160).

STEERING PUMP NOISY
Step 1. Check oil level in reservoir.
Fill reservoir as required.
Step 2. Visually check hoses for leaks.
Replace hoses (see para 4-9).
Step 3. Check suction hose at pump for blockage.
Replace hose. (see para 4-9)
Step 4. Check pump for leaks.
Notify Direct Support.
